A Weekend of Work and Life Balance

It has been a while since my last post. Sorry about that everyone, but I think I have a decent excuse. My best friend from Miami came over to Seattle to surprise me for my birthday that just recently passed. Good job Will and Deanna, you guys got me.

So we did something that we used to do a lot on our vacations. We ate a lot of bad foods, drank a lot of booze and went to a few tourist attractions. Dee and I gave Will the "Weekend in Seattle experience," and I'm going to tell you all about it.

Will arrived late Friday night to me in my pajama shorts playing Monster Hunter World at 10pm. I was in the middle of getting that Aloy Armor set. Who wouldn't be surprised by some dude walking into your house at that time? I put pants on, and we went to grab a late night burger at Loretta's Northwesterner. They have some great burgers in this small dive bar in West Seattle. After the sandwich, we stopped by a pinball bar so we could play some games and have another beer. After a few games of pinball, we decided to call it a night.

Will's second day here in Seattle I got Senzu to wake him up. We decided we needed more burgers but with a twist. Katsu Burger is a burger joint that specializes in Japanese style burgers. Deep fried meats with Japanese mayo and cabbage. It's safe to say that it was a unique experience. From there we did a little bar crawl.

First bar stop was the Unicorn bar, where we had drinks called Unicorn jizz and unicorn tears. Our next bar was a German beer hall named Rhein Haus. This beer hall contains indoor and outdoor yard games while you drink 1-liter beers. Then we stopped at a different bar located in an old chapel. The Pine Box is an impressive bar with a gothic vibe.

Sunday morning we nursed our minor hangovers and made Cuban coffee. We ate at Fat's Chicken & Waffles for a late breakfast. After that, we went to my personal favorite bar and arcade, Vidiot. Most games are free. They have a board game area, and they serve food and drinks.

After all the eating and drinking we did, we figured it was time to get some exercise. Monday morning we drove 45 minutes out of Seattle to hike the Rattlesnake Ledge trail. It was Senzu's first hike, and he loved every second of it. Especially seeing other dogs doing the path. Tired and sore, we called it an early night. I'm feeling old just thinking about it.

Tuesday we went to Woodland Park Zoo. This zoo is exciting and houses a lot of endangered species. They even allowed us to feed fish to a penguin, which just so happens to be Will's favorite animal. I posted a lot of the animals on my Instagram stories. We ended the night by bowling in West Seattle. Bowling is always fun, but I found myself feeling soreness in my arm. I guess that is why I don't play the sport that often.

I had a good time with Will here. We showed him a few things here in the Seattle city I knew he would like.  We all love beer, food, and arcades. It was nice just to enjoy the weekend while working was kind of put on the back burner. I think it is essential to have a lovely weekend to soft reset yourself and get your creativity flowing again.

I have to get back to work now. I'll see you guys back here for my next blog post.
